Body and Blood
Published in Paperback by Writers Club Press (August, 2002)
Author: Lia Scott Price
Average review score:

Insightful reading!
I have been fascinated with the era in Philippine history under the Marcos regime. This book provided a very real backdrop into the life of a young woman coming of age during the Marcos years. Although I have read many books about this period of time in the Philippines, this book is the first which pulled me into the lives of the main characters and took me back to how I remember those times. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and did not want it to end.

The Bog People: Iron-Age Man Preserved
Published in Paperback by Cornell Univ Pr (December, 1988)
Authors: P. V. Glob and Rupert Leo Scott Bruce-Mitford
Average review score:

Glimpse into Iron Age life and ritual
P. V. Glob's BOG PEOPLE is a concise and illuminating study of several exquisitly preserved bodies of Iron Age inhabitant discovered northern Denmark by peat diggers in the early 1950s.

Glob, who was on the scene soon after the bodies were discovered, describes the remarkable condition of the bodies, then proceeds to explore the circumstances of their deaths. Glob's exposition gives us a look into the practice of ritual sacrifice in Iron Age northern Europe. Enhancing his discussion with studies of their last meals, the manner of death, the clothes and jewelry they wore as well as other bog artifacts, Glob introduces us to a brutal world where ritual sacrifice played a critical role in the spiritual life of Iron Age residents of modern day Denmark.

The photographs and x-rays of the bodies are stunning. In particular, the haunting photos of the serene, delicately preserved Tolland man cast this study in an earthy yet unearthly light.

Brave New Families: Biblical Ethics and Reproductive Technologies
Published in Paperback by Baker Book House (September, 1996)
Author: Scott B. Rae
Average review score:

Lots of Food for Thought!
Mr. Rae did an excellent job putting this book together. He covers all bases and gives you alot to consider and think on. The section at the back of the book for pastors would be a huge help in counselling couples in this area. This is the only book that I have seen that even touches these issues professionally, non condemningly and sensitively at the same time. Definitely a must read for any couple investigating these procedures.
